I realize that not everyone may be able or interested in purchasing actual physical real estate. However, incorporating it into your portfolio in the form of a financial security tradable on an exchange is a viable alternative. This is where a REIT can come into play and be a good alternative to someone who does want to be somehow invested in real estate, without having to dish out tens and tens of thousands to become a property owner.
